It is getting closer and closer to Christmas and I can definitely smell something magical in the air. We have all the presents wrapped and under the tree and we have been baking non stop. But by far the best thing about Christmas is spending time with my family. They are 6 of us all in one house together this year (me included) and we have also had a few others visit over the past couple of weeks and it just makes Christmas even more special for me. So I thought I would put together a post sort of in honour of my family by sharing one of their favourite recipes for hot chocolate. I never drink hot chocolate but this is so good and one of my new favourites plus it is super simple to make.
- 600ml milk
- 142ml pot double cream
- 100g chopped chocolate
- 1tbsp of ginger
- 1tsp of cinnamon
- Mini gingerbread sprinkles
- Whipped cream
- Mini Marshmellows
- Star Sprinkles
1) In a large pan melt on a medium heat melt all your hot chocolate ingredients and whisk until smooth. Bring to the boil and continue to stir for 2-3 minutes. Remove from the heat and place in mugs (this should make around 4 or 5.)
2) Now comes the super fun bit! You can top however you want but I always go super over the top. Squirt on some whipped cream, sprinkle of the mini gingerbread sprinkles and stars and top with a mini marshmallows.
3) Enjoy the delicious, festive and calorific drink!
It is that simple and so so delicious. Now I am off to make another 30 mugs of this tasty goodness.
