Autumn is my favourite time to do a photo shoot and recently I have been really inspired by some of my favourite photographers work. So I thought I would put together this little collection of images (all from unsplash) to inspire your next photo shoot as well as give some of my own tips for getting that perfect fall photos. These photos are all beautiful and free for you to use without credit (although I have linked to each wonderful photographers upsplash page) and I hope they give you some inspiration.
Colour schemes are really important to photography and I think the obvious colours are reds, yellows, oranges and browns as well as blacks. Choosing the right colours can really make a difference and I also love when photos look kind of faded rather than super bright in autumn. I think you definitely need to play around with light and also think about what colours work well together. Bright blues and pinks dont scream autumnal to me where as the colours in the pictures above seem seasonally appropriate.
If you are taking flat lays location wont be a factor you have to consider but if you want to take your photos a step further try doing some more outdoorsy shots. My favourite places include pumpkin patches, halloween festivals and events and forests and countryside areas. Make sure you check that the place is public property first and not privately owned and ask permission if you would like to take pictures in shops.
I think props are super important and you will have no trouble finding autumn themed ones. Leaves, conkers, pumpkins, tea, jumpers and candles are just a few of my favourites for fall. I also love using textured backgrounds like throws and cushions or going in the complete opposite direction and using something like a wooden table.
